Nokia’s new adverts in UK claims that Nokia 5800 is the new highest selling portable music player. According to GFK Retail and Technology data, the Nokia 5800 was the top device in both volume and value in Q1 of 2009 in the UK. This makes it the best selling portable music player beating even the Apple Ipod.

The touch phone has well placed itself as a phone cum mp3 player in the market. Nokia 5800’s mega success has surprised the competitors, analysts and even the manufacturers. Nokia’s CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo recently said that the sales figures for 5800 are well beyond their expectations and this device has a potential to become the most sold Nokia phone EVER. Recently we wrote about Nokia’Messaging Service being developed for the S60 5th Edition phones. Nokia Beta Labs have today released a BETA version of this push mail client for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

The service allows you to get push email from up to 10 different email accounts, such as Windows Live Hotmail, Gmail, and even your self-hosted email. The Nokia 5800 has just received a new firmware version 21.0.025, up from the earlier v20.0.012. This latest firmware update for the Nokia 5800 has started to circulate slowly.

The update is available via NSU for product codes like 0575407, 0575408, 0581337 from some Asian regions only for now. We should hopefully see the firmware being rolled out across the rest of the world soon. Initial reports point towards a better camera and usual “performance improvements”. Read more »

It lets you use your mobile device and/or PC to create, conduct, and participate in meetings with your business colleagues as well as your friends and family. The service is about sharing content synchronously and in real-time.

Nokia Easy Meet is an extremely easy tool to use, as it doesn’t require anything installing on your device. All you need is a device, whether a mobile device or PC, with access to a web browser. You can set up the meeting right on your phone and shoot out invites via SMS or e-mail, and the meeting itself allows for both text, voice and graphics to be used. Well its just a rumor for now but the word out is that Nokia 5800 XpressMusic’s resistive touchscreen may soon be replaced by a capacitive touchscreen.

A report from DigiTimes indicates that Nokia has ordered 2 million capacitive touschsreens for their super successful 5800 model. These new capacitive touschscreen units are expected to be shipped in May-June. DigiTimes cites a Taiwan handset component supplier as it’s source. Read more »

The all new Nokia 5800 Tube phone in Grey Color starts hitting shelves now. While the more trendy and stylish colors Red and Blue are still available, the new grey/silver color of the phone gives it a more serious and professional look.
