Yeah.. the long awaited firmware update v.30.0.11 / v30.2.11 for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic finally arrive today. The firmware is available via OTA for some product codes and via NSU for the others. But its still not available for all product codes/ geographical locations as of now.

The official changelog is not available anywhere but a big change we noticed is the update allows you to view your email on the Homescreen now. General speed and responsiveness improvements and bug fixes can also be seen. But still no sign of much rumored widgetized homescreen or kinetic scrolling as of yet. Read more »

Google has finally woken up to the prominence of symbian fifth edition platform with its recently released update for Google Maps following on the close heels of its release of YouTube client, which we covered the other day.

We weren’t much amused by the YouTube client, but the developers at Google seemed to have hit the bull’s eye with the latest version of Google maps by incorporating layers on to the already impressive navigation app. With the latest update, Google maps on mobile is now much closer to the capability of the desktop version of Google maps. The irony has been finally laid to rest as our friends at Google have finally released an official YouTube client for symbian fifth edition devices.

The official version number of this YouTube client is v2.2.9 and can be downloaded for free by pointing your mobile browsers to m.youtube.com. We tipped you off on the rumored v31 firmware update earlier and now we have more substantial evidence to back up the rumors. How does Kinetic scrolling and a widgetized homescreen on the 5800 sound like?

J-Slade over at dailymobile.se forum had a chance to interact with the product manager of Nokia 5530 Xpress Music, a successor to 5800. During the meet, the Nokia official is believed to have verbally confirmed the firmware update (v31.*.* or some other v*.*.*) offering kinetic scrolling among other goodies to the 5800. Read more »

Adobe Reader doesn’t need any introduction, does it? Well, you may know that since Adobe pdf is one of the most widely used document formats today, Adobe PDF Reader has been a standard office package for the s60 third edition with the immensely popular Quickoffice.
