How many times have you wished, you had a personal secretary to handle all your calls? Well, we have been searching for long, not for a secretary but for a powerful symbian application that can double up as a powerful call manager in addition to an answering machine. That’s exactly when we stumbled upon Webgate’s Advanced Call Manager.
Webgate may not have been more apt in naming their app, Advanced Call Manager. The developers have packed in some of the most advanced call management features in this amazing app. Check out the full review right here.
The homescreen of the app is an ensemble of all the features of this powerful call manager. Before you can start using this app, it needs to be configured to suit one’s needs. To start with users can select a group of contacts that need to be blocked (blacklist) and a group of contacts who are allowed to call anytime (whitelist).This can be done in “Manage Lists” from home-screen.
Once the lists are setup, the app can be fired up by going to the active mode and selecting the appropriate mode. For the rejected calls, users can chose to send either a text message or a busy tone in addition to muting the ringer, diverting calls to a preset number and directing to the built-in answering machine.
As with every answering machine, users need to record a greeting message to greet the callers and the recorded messages can be accessed from the “Messages” tab in the home screen. The app uses the 5800′s phone recorder for this feature.
Users can save commonly used configurations in profiles which can even be scheduled to avoid manual switching between the profiles. This is something like not having to bother telling your secretary when to direct what calls as everything is already programmed within the profiles and scheduler and is no doubt one of the best features of this app.
The app uses an ultra fast recognition technology to detect remote callers and there is practically no time delay between the ring and the response pre-programmed in the app. This means the callers are largely unaware of the current availability of the user.
The official feature set of the app include:
The Advanced Call Manager lets you tune your mobile into several modes:
* Accept all calls (inactive)
* Reject all calls
* Accept Phonebook only
* Reject from black list (you have to define the list in advance)
* Accept from white list (you have to define the list in advance)
* Reject all personal (e.g. send SMS to your wife or girlfriend if she calls)Additionally you can specify:
* Reject hidden callers (you can avoid people whose numbers cannot be retrieved)
* Accept hidden callersFor reject-call actions you can choose to:
* Send busy tone
* Reply by SMS
* Divert calls
* Play personalized greeting (applies to Nokia devices only!)
* Mute the ringer
* Main product featuresLanguages:
Advanced Call Manager is available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Bulgarian
What we Like
- Diverse feature set with advanced call management functions
- Fast response time
What we Hate?
- No out of the box solution (Needs to be customized)
- Help page for the English version is not in English!
Verdict
Webgate packs one of the best call management solutions in its Advanced Call Manager. We are very much impressed by its fast algorithm for caller recognition and with profiles and scheduler when programmed appropriately can function as a very efficient personal assistant. It may not be one of the most easiest apps to use but once configured appropriately, the app can function as well as any diligent receptionist.
We highly recommend this app, which can be downloaded from our App store and don’t forget to avail the exclusive 20% discount using the coupon code “Tube5800open” till Aug 7th.

hi all,
when tested the applicatation some months ago I found that when you call a phone with active application you _really_ hear the room’s niose and all people speaking. During the message recording the micro wasn’t muted…
Is this (bug) still included in the new version?

I have a problem with it… The “mute the ringer” is not working in my 5800 even with the 2.77 version anyone knows how to fix it?

@Eassplus
you’re right, “mute the ringer” doesn’t mute a frek – sends a busy tone.
why, oh why doesn’t MCleaner do a proper 5800 version?
can’t find one single app that does right what it is supposed to…
guess i’ll be changing my mobile to some cheap Samsung or a 20EUR Nokia – those can filter calls without apps!!!
