Following on the closed heels of the update from Fring, VoIP/IM client Nimbuzz has updated its client for the symbian fifth edition to v2.2 and no they still haven’t added video calls over VoIP but instead they have integrated twitter into their client now, thereby making it the most comprehensive VoIP/IM client on our 5800s.

While we have always wanted one mighty app that can take care of all our VoIP/IM needs, the twitter integration adds a new twist to the story for there are more powerful and (hence paid) standalone twitter clients in the market (Gravity being our favourite) and to be honest, Nimbuzz doesn’t cut it too close to make us shift entirely from Gravity to Nimbuzz. Who says being a Dad is all about stress and sacrifices? It can be fun too and thanks to Nokia for bringing out a game based on Ovi Maps in the form of Dad’s Car, parenting is all the more appealing and fun.

Dad’s Cab and Ovi Maps synchronisation and we say parenting is fun with this app. Sounds pretty much confusing for a 5800 game, right? You must be wondering, “what does this game do after all?” Well for the starters its a game/app for Dad’s who often ferry their kids to school in their cars and it makes the drive all the more entertaining with Dads acting as cab drivers and charging the kids for the ferry service. Ofcourse, the kids cannot pay in cash but they can pay via certain good deeds. Sounds interesting, right? In case you were wondering where our good ol’ friends from MMMOOO disappeared, we have some good news for you. They were not on a long holiday as you might have guessed but they were working overnight to enhance the usability of 5800s’ best selling application- MyPhone v2.4.

If you have been following the developments of MMMOOO, you should be knowing that MyPhone v2.4 was released almost a fortnight ago at the MMMOOO shop and no we were not sleeping, we were busy working with the MMMOOO guys to update the Tube5800 version of your favorite 5800 app. There were a couple of bugs as well, which we were working on and in case you are already have a license of MyPhone, you may face some problems on updating. We have been seeing a disturbing trend with our service providers here who start charging us for the voicemail services after the first few months of subscription which is kinda rip off, considering the service it offers. A simple answering machine can take care of the services provided by the voicemail and it would cost us a fraction of the monthly charges being billed to us.

Popular VoIP app on the mobile platforms, Fring just got better with the recent update to v4.00.05. The app which we have been often overlooking to Nimbuzz now dislodges Nimbuzz from the top VoIP app for 5800, for its video calls over VoIP functionality, a feature that is available only in Fring as of now.

We have also noticed several other advantages with Fring when compared to Nimbuzz, the most prominent being the data usage during VoIP calls. On an average we found that Nimbuzz uses 4 times more data traffic than Fring for VoIP calls. Thats another reason, to get Fring on your 5800. Wanna know more? Spotify, one of the better known music streaming services on the mobile platforms has now landed on our 5800s (yeah finally!). The service which has been doing the rounds in the iPhone and Android communities now completes the full circle when it comes to support for different mobile platforms with the newly announced symbian support.

As with their apps on iPhone and Android, the app is available only for premium subscribers of Spotify (£9.99/month). That doesn’t mean others cannot install this app; its just that non-subscribers will not be able to use the app’s streaming services and hence will be stuck at the login page of the app. If you are game to a premium Spotify account, you gotta see the demo video, after the break though.
