Nokia 5800 Gets a Facelift- Comes with Navigation Bundle

The love of our lives, the Nokia 5800 just got better. As if the alluring 3.5″ touchscreen was not enough, the black plastic bezel around the upper periphery now wields a chrome coating to add that additional oomph factor to the looks of our Tube 5800s.

Unveiled today by Nokia, the “Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition” will be pre-loaded with lifetime of voice-guided Drive and Walk navigation license for the onboard Ovi Maps. We are not done yet, Nokia is also throwing-in navigation specific accessories like Nokia self-mount car kit, consisting of a Nokia Car Charger (DC-4), Car Holder Pack (CR-103), Rotating swivel adaptor (AD-69) and Easy Mount (HH-17); all this for just €285 (before subsidies and taxes). We have been telling you that our Tube 5800 is the way to go with its touchscreen and superior music capabilities and now with the latest Ovi Maps, its can also serve as a stand-alone navigation device. Unlocked Nokia 5800 ‘Comes With Music’ for £299 in UK

A week ago Nokia announced the ‘Comes With Music’ service coming on Nokia 5800 via Orange in UK. And now the news out is it will also be available ‘unlocked’ starting May-22 for just £299. The SIM-free version of the handset will initially be available at Nokia T5, Nokia Regent Street, as well as at Nokia’s online store.

You can also have an impressive 50% off if you are among the first 100 customers who will reach the Nokia’s Regent Street store in London between 12 noon and 1pm on 22nd May. You just need to bring an old mobile handset of any brand as well as one MP3 player (including ipod) to exchange them with the handset.

The Unlocked/ SIM free version comes with a 12 month Comes with Music ‘subscription’ so that you can download an unlimited amount of music, from the Nokia Music Store, for one year. You can download music either on your desktop PC or on the device itself. At the end of the one-year subscription period you will keep all the music you have previously downloaded (although transfers to other devices are limited by DRM).

As we reported earlier that the Comes with Music version Nokia 5800 XpressMusic would be available exclusively via Orange, so you have the only option to get an unlocked one if you want the Nokia 5800 Comes With Music handset but don’t fancy the Orange contract that goes with it.

Apart from Orange, the handset is also due to be launched on Phones4U networks from 29th May on contract, with contract terms starting at £24.50 a month. Nokia 5800 is free of cost if you are signing up the contract.

So those of you who live in the UK should head on to the Regent Store or the Nokia Shop website on May 22 in case you wish to grab the Unlocked or SIM-Free version of 5800. Or wait for the Orange and Phones4U networks to start the sales on May-29 for the with-contract offers.

Cincinnati Bell Brings Nokia 5800 NAM in US for $149.99!

Its a bit surprising to see Ohio based carrier Cincinnati Bell grabbing the deal from Nokia to sell the 5800 XpressMusic NAM phone in US. Cincinnati Bell is a small regional carrier with limited coverage area when compared to big carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.

They are the first to sell the 5800 in the US with a subsidized price. Its customers in the Ohio region will get to choose from the $149.99 with a contract version and the $349.99 without a contract version. The price they offer for unlocked nokia 5800 phone is still $50 cheaper than Nokia’s current official price.

So Americans looking for the Nokia 5800 subsidized prices with a contract can now opt for Cincinnati if you are in their coverage area. Other operators are expected to follow the suit for this touchscreen device and probably they are in final negotiation stages with Nokia. We will continue to bring the best Nokia phone deals like this to you.

Cincinnati also managed to pick the deal for Nokia’s E71 device a few days back and this is the second time now they hit the major market dominant players. Well done Cincinnati!

Nokia 5800 Star Trek Limited Edition Announced

Hey you Star Trek Fans out there- Nokia has a surprise for you today. They have just revealed that a special Star Trek edition of your favorite Nokia 5800 will be released this May 1 exclusively via Phones4u.

This version of the phone includes four special Star Trek animated screensavers, three Star Trek wallpapers and eight exclusive ringtones, including ‘Phazer Shot’, ‘Red Alert’ and ‘Kelvin Communicator’ and a special ‘Phazer Application’. The phone comes free on a £25 a month price contract and will be available in all colors- Red, Blue, Black/Silver.

It is also heard that Nokia has done some product placement for the 5800 in the film. This marketing strategy for Nokia 5800 is not new for us, right?
