Nokia Messaging needs no introduction for 5800ers but guess what, the Messaging service just got better with the service now opening doors to new avenues. We were tipped off of this launch from the Nokia Messaging blog, which made the formal announcement of the portal, Messaging.Nokia.com going live.

How does the idea of having some chrome on our 5800 sound like? We know that the navigation edition of our 5800 has that chrome rim which we covered earlier when it was launched. T-Mobile UK is all set to launch the chrome edition of Nokia’s best selling device-Nokia 5800 (Comes With Music) to its customers in the UK.

In the absence of any images being released to the media, we can only speculate on the possibilities of this chrome edition of Nokia 5800. We must say the T-Mobile personnel have done an amazing job at keeping things locked up for we haven’t seen any leaks in the blogosphere either. Now coming to the possibilities of this “chrome” version, a 5800 navigation edition sans the lifetime navigation license may be a possibility and so is an all chrome Nokia 5800 (Not many would like that though). Good news: There is a new firmware update released for Nokia 5800 today. This latest firmware version is v31.0.101. The update is available via Nokia Software Updater (NSU) and Over-The-Air (OTA) for some product codes.

Bad News: The update is a minor one (like the previous update) with no big improvements and no official changelog. The update fixes few minor bugs and some speed improvement is also noticed. It just happens that the Lara Croft model of the last decade- Nell took part in the UK Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon held on 11th October in London, donning the Nokia kit comprising of Nokia 5800 Comes With Music loaded with Nokia Sports Tracker.

Does Nokia always punish early adopters? Thats the question almost every geek who has ever owned a Nokia device would have asked himself atleast with one of their products. While the saga of Internet tablets from Nokia is a classical example of the Finnish company being hard on early adopters, our very own 5800 hasn’t been spared either.

Nokia 5800, which was Nokia’s first touch screen device was also the first to feature the symbian fifth edition (s60 v5) OS. While s60 v5 has steadily matured into its present version, the number of devices featuring the OS has also increased over the last year.
