Yeah.. the long awaited firmware update v.30.0.11 / v30.2.11 for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic finally arrive today. The firmware is available via OTA for some product codes and via NSU for the others. But its still not available for all product codes/ geographical locations as of now.

The official changelog is not available anywhere but a big change we noticed is the update allows you to view your email on the Homescreen now. General speed and responsiveness improvements and bug fixes can also be seen. But still no sign of much rumored widgetized homescreen or kinetic scrolling as of yet. Read more »

J-Slade over at dailymobile.se forum had a chance to interact with the product manager of Nokia 5530 Xpress Music, a successor to 5800. According to Frost & Sullivan, GPS-enabled devices is a fast growing market segment in Europe, with more than 30 million devices shipped in 2008 and close to 80 million devices expected to be shipped by 2010. The latest rumor out there is that Nokia 5800 may soon get a new software update. The latest firmware update to be out soon is v.31.0.015. There is no official word from the Finnish Giant about the update but a clue was found in a recent Nokia OVI Video.

The Brand Equity MTB survey is the largest, most diverse and most prestigious survey of its kind, with over 8,000 respondents nation-wide and is conducted by The Nielsen Company on behalf of Brand Equity. Its official now! Nokia has announced that the highly anticipated Nokia N97 smartphone will be on sale from June 19th in more than 75 countries. Nokia hasn’t detailed exactly which countries will start seeing N97 shipments roll in, but it’s safe to say they will most likely include most of the European markets, as well as North America.

The Nokia N97 marks the Finns’ first high end touchscreen device and packs in top specs. Most notably you’ll find HSDPA, WiFi, aGPS, a 5MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens, physical sliding Qwerty keyboard, 32GB storage, etc. The official price announced for Nokia N97 is $699 for US and £499 for UK. Canadian wireless provider Rogers will soon offer the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset, if we believe the billboard advertising displayed below. The ad, located at a ‘The Source’ retail store in Ottawa, is reported to be one of many placed across the provider’s locations throughout Canada.

Nokia 5800 has been available in Europe, North American and other markets for a little while, but it has yet to receive carrier support in Canada. That may soon be changing if the Tube phone tie its knots with Rogers. Read more »
