Have you seen the iPhone killer wallpaper you can get for it to? that doesnt look too bad… only hope it can actually live up to that. I heard the 5800 comes with hand writing recognition which is a pretty good start for Nokias first fully functioning Touchscreen handset. Cant wait to see the full package.

Amongst all the articles that I have read regarding the same topic, this is the most concise. I've been on the lookout for a possible "iPhone killer" and I think that this is exactly what I've been looking for. Good thing I stumbled upon your post. Great work!

I am using 5800 now, it's been only for few days. I've used my friend's iPhone 3G 8GB(AT&T service plan) for quite some time.

I have to say that both 5800 and iPhone are two totally different things. They are designed for two different kind of markets.

As far as I'm concerned, Nokia smartphones are more focused on the "business" kind of market; professionals doing business, people that travels a lot and need extreme mobility etc..This means most of the smartphones are designed to help these people doing their jobs by putting business application, PC connectivity software, easy SMS MMS software, e-mail software, video call, 3G(or even now 3.5G), etc..I don't really feel that Nokia focuses on the entertainment side; well, we can say that Xpress Music is kind of an approach to do more entertainment in Nokia smartphones but still I think that this was not the main focus on designing Nokia's smartphones.

On the other hand, iPhone is targeted for people who wants more entertainment in the phone. The design of the phone itself gives the sign that this phone is meant to be an entertainment device. Tons of games and entertainment application, superb multimedia and user interface that looks very stylish; these things will satisfy people who look for more entertainment in their smartphones. I assume these people are not professional businessman and don't really need super SMS and MMS software, extreme mobile email application, or even maybe video call.

I just think that comparing these two will not going to prove which one is the best. I used iPhone for few weeks and I really loved the games; this phone is really designed for entertainment purposes and it does the job very well. I am using the 5800 for a week now and I really think that the SMS, MMS, video call, 3.5G and other mobility application really suits my need in doing business.

Now imagine that you force iPhone to run business applications although you know that it is designed more for style and entertainment..

Imagine that you force 5800 to run extreme entertainment applications although you know the fact that this phone is business-oriented..

Two different things, you will never be able to find which one is better than the other..

I know the terms Xpress Music means more entertainment..Nokia understand this term very well, and it put some flexibilities in entertainment side. But still, the whole idea behind Nokia is business and mobility..

iPhone also has some useful business application available for the users. But still, iPhone is entertainment oriented..

So I would think that 5800 is better for users who seek for a bit more entertainment in business and mobility oriented smartphone and iPhone is better for users who seek more entertainment and multimedia smatphone with just a bit of business tools.

Maybe my ideas were not right, but hey, they're just not my opinion and I just want to share them here :p

Nokia 5800 is already available in the market (UAE) and it is half the price of iPhone and almost all the features are there. Especially the better camera and sound quality.
Ofcourse the smoothness of scrollingpages in iPhone is not there in 5800, but still with all the points you have mentioned in this article, Nokia 5800 is surely a iPhone killer.

The main advantage is the stylus.
