Connect4 Touch is yet another addictive game from Offscr Technologies, with which they have gone beyond just adaptations of classic puzzles and brainteasers to symbian fifth edition platform, by developing an all new game by itself.
While Offscr have always been innovative in their adaptations, their new game Connect4 is a pure delight when we consider the game objective and composition. Implementation could have been better in a few areas but overall the game has that feelgood factor that is bound to attract gamers. Hit the jump button for screenshots and brief review.
Screenshots-

The interface packs in no surprises, with a repetition of the interface we have seen in every app/game from Offscr. The upper row of buttons look exactly the same as in Tic-Tac-Toe Touch, since this is another two player game. The game consists of a 6 x 7 grid in which gamers can place coloured discs. The objective of the game is to connect four same-coloured discs in a row, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Simple, right?
What we Like?
- Intuitive and finger touch optimized interface
- Simplicity of game rules
What we hate?
- The game is rather too simple (Blame the algorithm)
Verdict
Connect4 is definitely one of the most innovative games we have seen on the symbian fifth edition platform to date. However, the algorithm is rather too simple and one can beat the compiler in almost 9/10 cases, making it rather boring after a few minutes. The 2-player mode can be addictive, provided you can find a partner and if not you can challenge yourself as the second player. We indeed had lots of fun challenging ourselves after a few one-sided games in the single-player mode.
Connect4 Touch is available as a free download at the ovi webstore (Login necessary).
