Experimental Multi-touch to the Nokia 5800
Filed Under Nokia 5800 News,Nokia 5800 Tips N TricksDis you ever felt that your Nokia 5800 should have been multitouch enabled? Jamie Fuller, a hobbyist somehow magically turned that into a reality and proves in the video below how well multi touch application can be run on Nokia 5800.
Considering that neither the hardware nor the software technically support multitouch here, it’s a hell of a feat. Jamie has put together the technology on his Nokia 5800 using some clever programming. This came about while he was trying to write a simple Guitar Hero clone for the phone, but realised he needed multitouch to hit simultaneous notes.
For now, though, things on the multi-touch front are still strictly in the testing stage. Jamie hopes to get his multi-touch capable S60 application out to the public in due time, but needs some help putting the finishing touches to the app first.
We hope he does not make any infringements on Apple’s multitouch patent. Anyways here is the video demo:

not that hard to think how he did it. the game is based on pressing on the edges of the screen. On a touchscreen if you press on the screen with to fingers the screen will register that you pressed with one finger directly in between the to fingers. So if he releases the game you will able to cheat by pressing between the to spots

this game is NOT multi-touch!
if you touch two areas on the phone’s touch screen
the phone will ONLY recognize the MIDPOINT between the fingers!
if you press right between every two buttons you will find that both buttons will light up
the most obvious example is when you touch the score, while playing
the game
Example:
———————
1-(o) 2×0 (o) Legend: x= put finger here
o= button
o o (o)=lighted button
———————
2- o 250 (o) Note: Drawings are not drawn to scale with
x game; the most accurate one is the
o (o) first example
———————
3- o 250 o
(o) x (o)
———————
4-(o) 250 o
x
o (o)
———————
5- o 250 (o)
x
(o) o

I own a nokia tube and i’ve tested my theory.
I am a big fan of nokia ,but unfortunately;
MULTI-TOUCH WILL NEVER COME TO NOKIA 5800,
IT’S HARDWARE DOESN’T SUPPORT IT!!!
