FExplorer Pro- The Professional Explorer App for 5800

Its been quite a while since we have been looking for an advanced file manager cum explorer for our 5800s. While we did stumble upon X-Plore from Lonely Cats, a mighty explorer application on its own, there are a couple of things which are still missing in the app. Thats when we came across SBSH’s latest FExplorer Pro.

The latest app from SBSH’s offers more features than you can expect from a explorer app: file searching, zip manager, image viewer, screen capture utility, flashlight, memory defragmenter, advanced phone and network info tools, etc. to name a few. As we told you earlier, the app packs in some advanced device management features. The first thing that caught for eye was the screenshot feature (for capturing/recording phones screen), which unfortunately doesn’t work on our 5800s (Blame it on non-configurable shortcut key for capturing a screenshot). Thats about the only thing we have to complain about in this app from SBSH. Now lets dwell into the more exciting features of FExplorer Pro.

With our 5800s being shipped with 8GB of microSD card ever since it launch, we have been stuffing it with a gamut of apps and media files and we indeed missed that defragmenter tool from our desktops. Thanks to SBSH, FExplorer Pro now bring one of the best known memory management tools to our dear 5800s.

Now, lets talk about the file explorer features of this app: the file browser fully supports ZIP files, and even allows access to Nokia’s hidden folders, as well as a hex, binary, and comes with a built-in text editor. Add file management tools (create, delete, rename files and folders), image viewer and file searching to that impressive list and we have a complete file explorer app.

While a simple *#0000# and *#06# would do for getting device information and IMEI of our 5800s, the app also lists the same in one of its submenus with just a couple of clicks. Further users can even restart the phone (a feature not available by default in the symbian OS) and get info about the network.

What we Like?

1. Combines feature sets of several free/paid apps in one easy-to-use package
2. Memory management and file management tools are top notch

What we don’t like?

1. Absence of viewers for music, video and documents

Verdict

The app packs in some of the features which we would never expect in a file manager/explorer app but it does leave out some of the must-have features like: document/music/video viewers. FExplorer Pro may not be the top notch file manager/explorer app for our 5800s but it does pack in a lot of features which are available as standalone apps on their own. We would any day prefer having one app offering several features to a ton of apps offering just one feature each.

Priced at $7.95 on the inaugural offer, the app is worth every penny just for the congregation of diverse features in a single app. As with every SBSH app, registered users get free upgrades and we are sure the file viewers (like document, video and music) will be paying a visit to this amazing app in the near future.
