@ChandruBS

1.) I think this is a problem with the earpiece as there are 2 metal parts that needs to have a gap. You can check this video out:

http://dailymobile.se/2009/01/10/video-how-to-fix-the-nokia-5800-xpressmusic-earpiece-sound-problem/

You can try having your phone checked by the store where you got your unit as doing the fix in the video will void your warranty.

2.) Backup all your data and contacts then do a reset on your phone by using *#7370#. This one worked for me but be advised that doing so will erase any data you have on your phone.

I also had the same experience as JM when I tried updating the firmware from v10 to v11. I tried twice and I got the same notification as him.

I sent a message to Nokia already. I hope they'll reply soon.

I have the latest firmware installed. 11.0.008.(which came wit the fone, released in India, Jan 3rd, 2009))

But ther are still a few bugs.

1] Handset volume suddenly goes low during calls.( loudspeaker works fine)

2] cant install any application, i always get the expired certificate error. Tried all workarounds.

3]Hope Nokia fixes these bugs soon.

Tried updating the firmware of my 5800XM but was always getting the error:

Software update Failed

For optimum connectivity, your USB cable should be connected directly to the PC, and not via a USB hub, USB keyboard or laptop station.

I already tried it in 2 other Desktop PCs and a laptop but I keep on getting this error...but the connection to PC Suite is working fine and without any problems...any idea with regards to this error?
