Fun Application: LightSabre for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

This application does not have an purpose except FUN!! LightSabre makes a humming sound with some cool light effects when you swing your phone. It turns your Nokia 5800 into a kind of toy and brings out the kid in you. Light Sabre uses the built in accelerometer API of Nokia 5800. It is of course a freeware and really funny when you show it to your friends.
You can also change the color, volume and sensitivity levels in the settings. The application will work on S60 5th edition devices like Nokia 5800 and the upcoming Nokia N97 and may also be compatible with 3rd edition feature pack 2 phones as well. Check the video below for LightSabre demo.
Some points to remember for running this application-
1. IMPORTANT- install to internal memory ( C:/) drive (known defect)
2. For best results turn off auto screen rotation in phone settings (otherwise you’ll get lag in the sound when the screen changes)
UPDATE:
Some users are reporting problems while installing/running it on phones having firmware other than v20. Application seems to work fine on firmware v20. Head on to the application developer’s site here and report the bugs in the comments there.

too bad, was excited to have this on my phone, installed successfully but when i opened the application, it just blinks on the screen but does not open up…tsk tsk tsk. need help.

hey, i just had the same problem, BUT IFIXED IT, its not that hard, u just need nokia pc suite on ya comp, then download nokia sowftware updater, install that, then follow the steps from nokia software updater, u need ur 5800 to have v20.something firmware as soon as that is done the app will work, it works on my phone now.

hi this might sound stupid but i dont know how to get this app from this website and up and running on my phone cam any1 help ?

@Jakey- Make sure you have latest firmware v20 on your phone. Then download the application file from here- http://symbianworld.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/lightsabre5th_v0_1s.sis.
When you open the file on your phone, it will start installing itself. Install it on the C:\ drive, i.e your internal memory and not on memory card.
Let me know if anything is unclear.

@admin i have firmw. 2.0 but won’t install…(certificate problem)allready tried the hard reset but didn’t fix the problem…
am i overlooking something? like the app. can you help?

Make sure that you are installing this application in C:\ drive of your phone, and not in your memory card.

@admin, did a new install of the latest 2.0 firmware for the 2nd time.. this solved the problem (don’t ask me why)

im trying to update my firmware but i don’t know what the server settings are, can i get that from my network provider or is there a good one to use (or am i just a mong? lol)

@Darren- To update your firmware, press *#0000#, then “Options”, then “Check for Updates”
@Heel- Make sure you are installing it on C: drive, NOT on your memory card.
@Matt- I just checked the d/l link, it works fine, Try again please.

Nice toy, it installed ok once i agreed that it had no signiturs and was not trustworthy. only thing is, how do i uninstall it?
