One common query we are getting regularly by readers is – Will Nokia follow the Apple’s path in launching its first true touchscreen model? Will Nokia Tube come with a service contract with a provider?
Just like Apple Iphone, it is believed in media circles that Nokia 5800 Tube may come bundled with a contract with a service provider like Vodafone in UK. This is to keep the prices in decent range for most of us to buy.
By biding a contract with handset, the manufacturers (Nokia/ Apple), service providers (AT&T/ Vodafone) as well as the buyers (in some cases) gets mutually benefited -
1) By this, the company keep the prices low enough so that even teens can buy the set with their pocket money.
2) The manufacturing company also grabs profits from the service provider they tie-up with like AT&T in case of Apple Iphone.
3) The service provider (AT&T) also do gets gifted with new subscribers as well as they retain the old ones for the contract period.
4) The buyer also enjoys full benefits and service warranty plus all updates if he opts for the offer.
As we shared here in a previous post about a popular pic of Nokia 5800 with a ‘Vodafone’ logo at the bottom, it is speculated that this smartphone may come with a Vodafone subscription plan in UK.
If this comes out to be true, the buyers may chose to go with the ‘unlocked’ way to use the handset with their favorite service provider. Just like Apple Iphone case, the history may repeat here again and we can see a lot of unlocked tube phone deals in next few days. Some stores have also started pre-booking of Unlocked Nokia Tube as we told in last post.
If Nokia decides not to bundle the phone with any service provider, we can expect a higher price tag for this touchscreen. We have just a few hours left for the launch and every speculation and rumor will come to an end. Keep your excitements rolling till then
