The ongoing Nokia World in Stuttgart, Germany has been all over the web since yesterday. We are not at the event place right now but that didn’t stop us from following the live webcast. Our readers can take a look at the same over here.
As we were expecting Nokia did announce a couple of new devices of whom the web had no clue whatsoever. The latest X series which is the revamped XpressMusic series saw two additions in the form of X3 and x6. Curios to know how these compare with our 5800s, hit the jump button to find out.
Nokia X3

Nokia X3 is the latest budget music series device from Nokia which is one of the most aesthetically appealing handsets we have seen from Nokia especially in their Music series line-up. Priced at €115, the device is more of an entry level phone with music player functionality added on to the basic phone features. While the lack of a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack may be a serious limitation for this music series device, the dedicated music keys and microSD card for memory expansion may justify the the music series branding.
Goes without saying, this device is nowhere close to where 5800 is.
Nokia x6

The highlight of the first day of Nokia World was the latest symbian fifth edition device-Nokia X6. The music series device features a 3.2″ touchscreen, 32 GB of onboard memory and a 5 megapixel carl zeiss camera with dual LED flash. Along with 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, bluetooth, microSD card slot, USB and 3G connectivity this easily the best music series from Nokia to date. Cool ain’t it but the pricing is a bit of a mood dampener here, with a price tag of €450, X6 is only for those with deep pockets.
X6 definitely has the specs to kill for but the price tag makes us kill ourselves before we can think about getting this one. 5800 totally rocks the show here with its obvious price advantage and minor hardware compromises.
Nokia N97 Mini

We knew this was coming as this device was all over the web a couple of weeks ago and guess what we were still surprised when it was announced in Stuttgart yesterday. Having gotten rid of the D-pad and 32 GB of onboard memory (swapped with 8 GB), we were expecting the device to cost substantially lower than the N97 but to everyone’ surprise Nokia is pricing N97 Mini at €450, which is the same price at which N97 is retailing these days.
True the QWERTY keyboard and the extra pixels are obvious upgrades over 5800 but the pricing makes the 5800 deal sweeter and if you really want to shell €450, we would suggest N97 or the new X6.
Nokia Booklet 3G

Well this device is in a different market segment all together but still we thought we should cover this in our blog as this model is of strategical importance to Nokia and consumers like us alike. The device which Nokia like to call a “3G booklet” is another addition to Intel Atom based netbooks flooding the markets in the recent times.
The Windows 7 powered device boasts of Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 533 MHz RAM, a 120GB 1.8 inch 4200 RPM SATA hard drive with 8MB of cache, and a 10.1 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. Other netbook features include 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and a built in 3G modem with a hot swappable Sim card and hence the name 3G booklet. The highlight of this device is the 16 cell Li-ion battery which Nokia claims to last for 12 hours on a single charge.
Priced at €575, we are staring at the upper end of netbook or as Nokia puts it Booklet segment.
