So do you wanna watch live streaming BBC TV on your Nokia 5800? Yes? Ok then this is for you. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic today added another string to its already impressive bow – it can now stream live television shows from the BBC.
The Nokia 5800 has allowed you to watch pre-released programmes as part of its iPlayer service for the last couple of months. But now, the new service offers current live content from all of the BBC’s mainstream and digital channels.
Point your 5800 browser to www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/tv and you’ll be presented with a warning telling you that the streaming service has been designed to work with Wi-Fi. While this is undoubtedly the way you want to go if you don’t want to amass a stupendous phone bill, you can also use HSDPA 3G if you’d prefer.
Click on a channel, choose a programme and RealPlayer will load up and buffer the show. It may take afew seconds before you get a picture while it buffers. However, audio should start to stream almost instantly.
Currently the live streaming seems limited to the Nokia 5800 with latest firmware, hope it will soon be available for other devices too. You’ll need to be in the UK in order to receive the content.
The guys over at NokNok already given it the once over, and it seems to work perfectly well. Check out their images below:

Yes it will not work outside UK. Read the post above as we said – “You’ll need to be in the UK in order to receive the content.”

Nice service, thanks for the info.
Seems there’s a delay of 10-ish seconds from the same transmission on Sky TV, but it’s still a step forward.
Now we need other channels to follow suit

You can only receive this live feed in the UK because the BBC “make” anyone with a TV and receiving there live broadcast pay £145ish a year to watch TV. If you don’t pay they send someone to your door to ask why you are not paying the TV Licence. So any one outside the UK will no be able to receive there live feed because they would not get any money. This would not be acceptable for the corporation.
