Managing Music on your 5800 can be a big headache especially if you don’t have a tagged music collection to start with. Add to that the album art incompatibility and absence of the option of tagging the files directly from our 5800s, there is a dire need for an app that can help us organise and manage our music collection on our Xpressmusic 5800s.
While Shazam, is an excellent application to tag music, its feature set is largely limited to just tagging and linking to the tracks in Nokia’s Music store. Midomi is another competing service, which offers value added features like: sharing a song on Twitter or Facebook, links to lyrics, videos, and artist info for free. Hit on the jump button for more details.

Well the app has a very simple interface: all you gotta do is tap on the midomi icon and point your microphone towards the audio source and mere 10 s is all that is needed to tag the track. Tagging is as efficient and fast as with Shazam if not any better. What makes Midomi better than Shazam is the additional info on the artist and album that is displayed along with the track ID. The share on facebook and twitter option will be adored by networking addicts like us. With embedded links to videos, lyrics and artist info, you now carry the wiki of music in your 5800s!
Just in case you need a video preview of Midomi, here is a short YouTube clip (not in the best quality) showing the app in action on 5800.
Verdict
While we were very much impressed by the capabilities of Shazam, we gotta confess that Midomi beats Shazam by a mile. Users can now even tag a track by just humming the track over Midomi, a feature not seen in Shazam. Further, we just love the share and embedded links to videos and lyrics function. No doubt the app has been getting rave reviews like: “This is amazing.” The New York Times o “Genius, isn’t it?” BBC World Radio o “…could save your sanity.” CNN.
To make the deal sweeter, the app is available as a free trial for a limited period of time over at the ovi store. So waste no time and give this amazing music app a test drive on your 5800s.
