Flying start for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music in Russia. Russia is among the first few countries to start Nokia 5800 Smart Phone sales recently. We reported earlier how the Nokia 5800 wiped out in just 30 minutes in Nokia Flagship Store in Russia prior to the actual formal launch.
This time we got the news that over 58000 phones are sold in Russia between Nov 26th to Dec 7th which is beyond expectations. There are also confirmed orders of about 46000 units more by the end of 2008. This is an all-time record breaking number for any phone in the first month of sales in Russia.
Eldar Murtazin at LiveJournal confirmed this news from Russia and it looks like now that the Nokia 5800 is all set to break the highest records for cellphone sales in the region. Based on these figures, there will be over 100,000 Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phones in Russia just after a month of launch.
This is true when the phone is so highly priced in Russia at around 400 Euros. It is expected that beginning January, 2009 the prices will come down close to what Nokia actually promised, i.e 279 Euros. The sales figures are expected to boost to new heights with the reduced price.
Great going 5800!!

Great news indeed
Based on the first week or so, that’s 5 times the iPhone sales – and based on the first month estimate, it would be 3 times more.
While it does not mean that worldwide the 5800 will outsell the iPhone, it still shows a good potential
