Good news again! Nokia has released a new firmware update for our Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. The firmware update is v.51.0.006 and its not a major update unfortunately. The minor update contains some performance improvements and bug fixes.
You can download the latest firmware update v51.0.006 Over The Air (OTA) now. Its not available via Nokia Software Updater utility as of yet. Remember the update is not yet available for all product codes and geographical regions. Check the changelog below.

To check if the firmware update is available for you- just enter *#0000# on your dial screen and go to options- check for updates. You can also check this Nokia page to see if the update is available for your product code yet.
Even though Nokia 5800 has User Data Prevention (UDP) feature, its still advised to backup everything before you run the update on your device. The update should roll out worldwide and for all product codes soon in few days/ weeks. So if its not available for you, just wait for a while as it has nothing great to try changing product codes just to get your hands on it.

Updated the firmware.
The vibrating response works much better and it seems that the overall response of the operating system improved.
The RDS bug though is still there. Moreover, the Radio application freezes unexpectedly when trying to change the station.

I did it too. I noticed Now Real Player wont open through opera mini 5.1 to watch you tube video like before? But from opera mobile It normally opening link to play video through real player. Any one able to solve this ? Plz share the solution

Personally, I think changing the product code is the easiest and best trick. I’m from the US and until now I can’t update to v50 and it’s been more than a month since it was released. You can change it back to your original product code anyway after the update just so your warranty would not be void. That’s what I’m gonna do.

Possible bug: cannot activate speaker when using the media (MP3) player and headphones are attached. Using Radio, I can activate the speaker.

Nokia is going down in the smartphones area;)) they need a 100 years to release un update that has the same bug as the previous 2. unbelieveble. the only good thing about this phone was the price. Next phone, Andoid for sure. Symbian3 is just symbian2

I don’t understand why some guys claim that RDS is not working, because it woprks just fine here. I’m listening the radio right now and station/program name is scrolling on screen, so obviously RDS does work. Are you sure that radio station you are listening is actually broadcasting the RDS information? Not all radio stations broadcast that info.

I’m totally sure that the RDS is not working. The RDS logo is on but no info is showing. Moreover, as I have stated before, the radio app. seems to freeze when changing the station.
Did you do a hard reset on your phone after the upgrade?

RDS is not working!
icon lights up but no station name and no AF!
akku performance is lower.
some bugs in the browser ui.
random homescreeen crashes/reboot.
caution: deinstalling maps 3.04 make a bug that you can´t backup anything in filemanager or pc suite!

The Updates made the Phone work Faster and without any Problem
and there is Something i Discovered that i don’t think anyone noticed yet when u send something Via Bluetooth it Ask that ur Bluetooth is Off and need to be Activated in Order to Send the File The new Thing is after the File is Send the Bluetooth Turn Off Automatically after sending the File that’s a good thing cuz i usually Forget it working which use Up the Battery

bt works perfectly for me, but my accesspoints all diasappeared, and even worse: WIFI or WLAN doesn’t exsist anymore. There’s not even a WLAN button in my connectivitymenu…. weird…. can i undo my update? or is my phone broken?

I’ve applied the update (UK user) and it has run OK for a few weeks but now the phone has started to reboot on occasions – the screen changes to purple then blacks out, before the white screen and Nokia logo reappear. Not sure if this is due to an ageing battery/full memory card or the firmware upgrade, but at 18 months old the phone is still competitive to the point where I have just added another 12 months to my Vodafone contract without a handset upgrade!

Just finished updating in the UK (Virgin Mobile). Overall it seems faster, but what I noticed the most is an improved and more precise kinetic scrolling, especially in the music player when you scroll through hundreds of songs!!

I was try to use WiFi to update my phone for the updated Version, it appears to only have Ver 31.0.101 as for the phone can get so far here in the philippines. i think its better to use a computer to connect to the Internet using PC suite through Nokia OVI suite of any version… So far so good as it seems because it was able to detect the Version 51.0.006 as it shown on the Program.. im still updating it now.. wait till im done and give you guys my feedback about.

Its Done… Yes Perfectly it work just the way every gadget wiz would expect how fast the mobile phone should respond, i felt like its an android phone that works so fast as it is… its plus 5x faster that the one i had version 21.x.xxx, well thanks to the software Engineers & to Nokia that have improve their phone softwares for this specific only here in the Philippines. im now running on a Version 51.0.006 from the help of Nokia OVI suite.. i will observe and will wait till there any glitches should i encounter from this point to share it to you Guys.. thanks
