If you are the ones who scream at the very sight of a cock-roach, then read no further for this game is all about cockroaches. No, the developers are not glorifying this species for the world already knows about their holocaust survival capabilities. Instead what the game let’s you do is squash cockroaches for fun!
Yeah, we are not kidding: the That Roach Game is all about killing cockroaches. If that’s grabbed your attention, let us inform you that this is one of the engaging games we have seen on our Nokia 5800s. Wondering how engaging can smashing cockroaches be? Find out after the break.
Screenshots-

This is a flash based game and a very good one at that, perhaps one of the very best we have seen on our 5800s. The game is based in South Africa but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world is left out of this fun. Infact if you see the top 20 countries in the scores, South Africa doesn’t even figure in the list! That goes on to show how much people around the world are enjoying squashing these roaches.
While just squashing may not sound very engaging, developers have made it all the while more entertaining by adding social networking to the game. Well not exactly social networking like Facebook games but the game statistics which are displayed country-wise as we talked about earlier and the “shout” option add that networking fun to the game.
What we like?
- Engaging gameplay with increasing difficulty over time
- Social Networking Twist is fun
- Provides a wealth of information on roaches and their spread across South African cities
What we don’t like?
- Perhaps they should add a few other rodents!
Verdict
With the Soccer world cup heading to South-Africa, the municipal authorities may not do much to get rid of the roaches but we can assure you that gamers across the world will definitely give the roaches a tough time, albeit in a virtual world! So do your bit to get rid of the roaches before the World-cup fever catches on with the African nation.

I’m sorry to be off topic but I need help and thought you’d be able to help me! I also want you to know I have tried to find the answer using google first, I’m not lazy.
First of all, I would like to be able to make a theme. I have so many good ideas in my head, and fancy myself as good at using adobe photoshop and illustrator, but I am not a coder! is there any easy way Ive missed? anywhere I can download a theme creator software? or is there a directory on the phone or as part of a theme I have downloaded where I can just edit bitmaps?
Secondly I am looking for some silly but well pulled off apps. something that isnt even a game, and doesn’t require any concentration. this may seem weird but I would like the for two reasons: 1. so when my iPhone and iPod touch-touting friends and family show off their koi-pond and iPint I can say “look! my phone can do useless things too!” instead of the usual “my phone can multitask, it has a better camera and videocall camera, more pixels and its cheaper” and 2. it is actually quite calming.
Finally, I am looking for protection for my device. I have found a nice anti-glare screen protector, but am still finding a good sillicon case. I need something simple, nothing fancy and decorative, and nothing too rugged. just simple drop and scratch protection, and not too big in my pocket! preferably translucent white. It also needs to be a trustworthy site shipping to the UK.
Sorry to drop so much work onto you, but you should be flattered I came to you first!

@JBG- Welcome to Tube5800!
1) As far as I know, there is no theme creator software for Nokia 5800 yet.
2) Go to ovi.com for some silly apps, there are tons of useless stuff there.
3) Look at Amazon.co.uk for some good cases for your 5800. Like this-

Hope that helps

THEME CREATOR > Yes there is a theme creator (Carbide Theme Creator) for 5800/N97 – have used it plenty of times! You can download free from forum.nokia.com
THAT ROACH GAME online? > No the game is only available as SIS installer for mobile phones. An iphone version is also available, though the Flash Lite version runs faster with more features.
You can check out the official site at thatroachgame.com

@Stefan- Thanks for the info on Carbide, the last time I checked it didnt supported 5800. Also, the ownskin.com is a good option for creating themes.

I have various themes running on my 5800 that I created using the Symbian 60 5th Edition template in Carbide UI (doesn’t support Flash Lite in many modes) – Nokia pays us to do this, so really, you can create official 5800 themes in official Nokia software for free, and for the past year already – just Googling for 2 minutes will confirm this: “Carbide.ui Theme Edition 2.0 supports creation of themes for Symbian OS, S60 5.0. ”
Otherwise I can show you a screenshot of a 5800 theme being edited.

@Ayush- sometimes strange problems like these happens. i suspect this is a problem related to your memory card. try removing you card and then check if you can open the list of tones. if yes, then you may have some corrupt files in your card.
connect your phone to pc and check if you have some folders with crazy file names in the memory card. backup all the other files except these corrupt folders and format your card and restore the backup. this should correct your problem.
let me know if this works.
