A new Flash Lite version is available for Nokia 5800 phones. Adobe and Nokia have updated Flash Lite to v3.1. You won’t have to wait for firmware updated to get it. Simply use that App update utility to install it.
The update brings improved web browsing, smoother videos, better handling of images, streaming MP3 support and overall much better flash rendering performance.
According to the Adobe Flash Lite site, version 3.1 brings the following changes:
# Improved Web Browsing, 91% of top 500 internet sites.
# Flash 9 (AS2 only) support
# Local Connection / HTML Text / GetURL_target / CSS support / WMode
# H.264 support / Improved video support (smoothing, seek)
# Improved memory handling for images
# MP3 Streaming support
# Support for hardware acceleration — Flash Lite 3.1 supports OpenVG 1.1 to improve flash rendering performance on capable devices.
# Linux Reference port
Thenokiaguide found an interesting observation with this update- “Using the 5800 XpressMusic to watch the Desktop version of Youtube via the S60 browser, reveals much smoother video and quicker transition from standard to fullscreen view. But the biggest improvement comes to the Youtube seek bar: before the update it was most of the time difficult or impossible to use the seek bar, now it works perfectly.”
To update Flash Lite on your Nokia 5800 phone go to Menu- Applications- App. Update- Adobe FlashLite 3.1.

i am using Nokia 5800 NAM(USA) version … I can’t understand Why nokia doesn’t have new Firmware update V21 for USA phone users…??? Why nokia is not making progress in NAM versions phones ????

Leon if you have the NAM version phone than forget it
Step 1 : try to update your phone to the latest firmware V.21.
Step 2 : go back to the app update and you should find your Flash 3.1
This works if you bought your phone from outside of the USA.

and I updated mail for exchange before….so I don’t know what is the problem. And I think it’s not connected with product code. I should wait for couple days, and then try it.

hi, i was able to download and install the Flash Lite 3.1, however it seems that the default storage for the application update is the phone memory (c:), does anyone know how to make my memory card as the default storage device for future application updates? Appreciate immediate feedback. Thanks in advance!

Using an Australian 5800, with firmware v21.0.025 RM-356. Flash Lite 3.1 does not appear in App Update. The only thing that’s ever appeared there is Nokia Messaging 10.0.
Can view youtube vids on the mobile site, but not on the standard site. Can’t view heaps of flash stuff on the web.
