Indians have welcomed and accepted the Nokia 5800 phone with open arms. Nokia 5800 is selling like hot cakes in India since its launch. Nokia India has declared that they have sold a stunning 58,000 pieces of Nokia 5800 handsets in the first three weeks of sales in India.
These sales figures are in the same country that had given the iPhone, another all touch handset a huge thumbs down just a few months ago.
Iphone launched with a huge hype in India few months back failed to lure the customers as of its excessive price and the network-locked offer for India which Indian consumers are not used to. Iphone is priced for around Rs. 31,000 (US$640) in India for 8 GB model while Nokia 5800 is available for around Rs. 19,400 (US$400) in Indian stores.
“The 5800 model is indeed doing well in India. This testifies Indian consumers value innovation even when the economy slows down,” said a Nokia India spokeswoman.
Similar craze for Nokia 5800 was also witnessed in Russia, Philippines, Hong Kong, UK and other countries when the 5800 XpressMusic was launched there. Its not a surprise they sold 1 million Nokia 5800s in such a short span of time.
Kudos to Nokia !

Also is the earphone issue resolved now?
Thanks
