Nokia, the unbeaten King of Smartphones retains its No.1 position in the latest smartphone sales figures. Nokia leads the race with a total of 38.9% market share in the smartphone world, as reported by the recent Canalys Q3 2008 report.
Apple with its Iphone sales is now at second position with a 17.3% market share, a significant gain from just 3.6% in Q3, 2007. Nokia and Apple are followed by RIM (15.2%), Motorola (5.8%) and HTC (5.8%) for the third, fourth and fifth positions.
Global Smartphones sales reached almost 40 million units in Q3 2008 worldwide. The smartphone sales witnessed a rise in US and EMEA while a decline in Asia-Pacific markets. The sales figures of smartphones in US has doubled in last one year.
With the launch of T-Mobile G1 and Blackberry Bold and Storm, the smartphone battle should get more exciting. Nokia too will try to boost its figures with the start of Nokia 5800 sales.
