Starts With Word Search: A Vocab Excercise for your Eyes!

When was the last time you came across a vocab app for our 5800? This is one genre which is yet to pick up steam in the ovi store. We have been in the lookout for a vocab app/game for our 5800 since long and it took us long to fall upon anything satisfactory. After scouting the web for a few hours, we found something worthwhile at last-Starts With Word Search.

To be honest with our readers, we did overlook this game the first time around but when we came back to it, it kinda hit on us that it was actually “edutaining” and we took a liking to the game. Hit on the jump button for screenshots and a brief review of this game on our 5800s.

Its a very simple game in which users need to select the starting alphabet of the words and that explains the “starts with” in the title and on choosing the alphabet, the game generates a 10×10 grid and gamers are required to find the words shown in the adjacent column. So thats an exercise for your eyes as well. In case we didn’t do much justice to the game description, the following video should elucidate a few more details:

What we like?

1. Pretty straight-forward game
2. Plenty of customisation options (grid size, difficulty levels etc)

What we don’t like?

1. Could have been made more engaging to the gamers (Knowing the words that have to be spotted in the grid is nearly not half as fun as locating new words which can later be verified)

Verdict

While vocab games/apps are under-represented in the present corp of offerings from the ovi store, Starts With Word Search is a promising entry. Its a game you would probably overlook after a game or two but give it some time, it will not only improve your vocab skills but also make you a pro at spotting words in a grid!
