Time Machine, the ultimate countdown/ stopwatch app for symbian fifth edition was updated to v2 couple of weeks ago and as usual we decided to give it a spin on our tube 5800. After toying around with the app for 2 days, we are totally convinced that this is the best timer app.
The developers have responded to the feedback which many of readers contributed to when we first reviewed the v1 of this app last month. Official changelog and screenshots after the break.
Screenshots:

As you can see, the entire app has been given a new refreshing look, along with some changeable skins to get along with different versions of our Tube 5800s. We just love the blue and silver skins which blend well with our blue and silver 5800s. Our red Tube 5800 friends can comment on the red skin as well as yellow and green skins.
Its not only the visualisations that have been beefed up but the entire code has been re-written to enable background function (pseudo background function) and the all new clock mode just blows your mind away. We just love the new interface and can’t get over with the landscape mode clock, even after 2 days of playing around with the app.
The official changelog for v2:
- Total rewrite of timer code. Now it works in background, sort of. You see, flash applications don’t work on background or when phone is locked and there’s nothing I can do with that. But now when Time Machine is brought to foreground or phone is unlocked it finds out the right time and jumps straight to there. This works well when counting up but when counting down it can pass the zero without alarming
- Clock mode. Just normal 24h clock
- New ultramodern user interface with five different stylish colors. You can change between interfaces by clicking the blinking light when it’s not blinking
- Option to choose clicking sound and/or vibration (or nothing) when pressing buttons
- Finally managed to fix the sound volume problem, now you can blow you ears out
The sound effects and vibration alert add to the actual timer like feel to the app. In all its a complete timer app and we actually found it hard to believe that its a free app.
You may not be into sports or any timekeeping activities for that matter but Time Keeper v2 is definitely a must have on your 5800, for its well-designed landscape mode clock alone, if not anything else.

Why can’t I open the app? The only thing that appears to me is a code. The file is downloaded as if it was a text file, and I can’t install it. Can you help me?
