topApps on Ovi Store- Recommends the Best Apps on Ovi Store
Filed Under Nokia 5800 Applications
You know when your app store isn’t doing great? When there is an app to suggest the best apps within the app store. iTunes App store has a few of them but now over our Ovi store has seen an entry in this segment of apps. Unlike the ones in iTunes App store, this one comes from the store keeper’s themselves: yeah that’s right Nokia itself has developed and released the topApps on Ovi store, an app which very much lives up to it’s name.
So what exactly does topApps do, other than listing the best selling apps in the Ovi store? Quiet a few other things as well. Find out after the break.

So what does the app do? Quiet a number of things actually: For starters it pulls the best-selling content from the ovi store (top downloads for the free ones) and then it organises the content based on your geography. So you download the apps/games which are presently in vogue in your region. It isn’t hard and fast rule though: you may wish to download the best content from some other region, for which all you have to do is change the country in the settings menu. Hitting on download opens up the Ovi store from where the apps/games are downloaded.
What we like?
- Streamlined UI is very much familiar to UI of ovi store and you feel at home the moment you tap on the app
- Reviews via Ovi’s dailyapp blog
What we don’t like?
- iTunes Genius like intelligent recommendations is enabled in the Ovi store but not in the app
Verdict
After playing with the app for over two days now, we are kinda wondering why Nokia didn’t incorporate these features within the Ovi store itself? It would have done wonders to the present version of Ovi store which though streamlined has been at the receiving end of criticism for a while now. The way we see it, integration within the Ovi Store would have been a great move but we are just glad that such an app is available at the Ovi store.

Yeah, integrating by default would make more sense. It is weird.

Pretty cool app. It’d be better if they did just integrate it in the store, but for what it is, it looks and works quite nice.
