Its the Weekend and we thought about covering a nice little game to beat the stress and look what we landed upon-BlockGO, an addictive brainteaser from Frienzplay.
The game which bears striking resemblance to the game of Bulldozer of the yesteryears is an excellent adaption of a classic brain teaser on a touch screen platform. We were so impressed by the design and implementation of this game that we just couldn’t have enough of this game on our 5800s. Screenshots and more BlockGO related tidbits after the break.
Screenshots-

As you can see the developers have incorporated one of the most well composed interface for a game in terms of colour composition. Never have we seen an interface thats more welcoming than this with an ideal blend of bright hues rendered in crayon-mode bringing back the memories of the carefree days of our childhood. The animated characters are a delight to play with and will appeal to gamers, kids and adults alike.
Moving on to the gameplay, the rules are pretty simple: There are two types of blocks-the animated red block and the rest. The objective of the game is to lead the red block to the exit passage on the right by sliding around the blocks. Sounds too simple right? Not really, for the horizontal blocks can be moved only horizontally and vertical blocks only in the vertical direction. So gamers gotta figure out a way out for the red block by sliding the blocks accordingly.
While we are much impressed with the graphics and animations of this game, gameplay options doesn’t disappoint us either. With around 99 levels in 5 difficulties, the game can entertain a diverse skillset of gamers.
What we Like?
- Colourful interface
- Optimum finger touchscreen environment
What we hate?
- The application is rather large at around 4 MB (but the graphics and animation makes it worth it)
Verdict
BlockGO is one of the better games we have seen on the symbian fifth edition platform and we highly recommend this game for our readers. While we have been used to seeing good offerings from Offscreen Technologies every now and then, Frienzplay have impressed us greatly with this game. We are delighted to see an increasing number of developers realising the potential of the symbian fifth edition platform which roughly translates into loads of new apps/games for our Tube 5800s.
